On Thursday, 9th October, all Year 12 and Year 13 Maths students at EM6 Sixth Form, Hartlepool took part in the prestigious UKMT Senior Maths Challenge, a national competition designed to test advanced problem-solving and mathematical reasoning skills.

We are delighted to announce that Daniel and Freya (Year 13) achieved Gold Awards and have qualified for the Senior Kangaroo, an elite follow-on round of the challenge. Daniel also secured the highest score in the sixth form, an outstanding achievement that reflects his dedication and talent.

A special mention goes to Kobi, Cohen, and Christy (Year 12), who achieved the joint top score in their year group, earning Bronze Awards. We look forward to seeing them build on this success in Year 13 and aim for Senior Kangaroo qualification next year.

What is the Senior Kangaroo?

The Senior Kangaroo is a highly regarded extension of the UKMT Challenge, reserved for students who achieve exceptional results. It consists of a 60-minute paper with 20 advanced problem-solving questions, and qualifying places students among the top mathematical thinkers nationally.
