A huge congratulations to Harrison, who has successfully completed his Bronze Wings Ground School Course after an unforgettable week at a Royal Navy air station. This is a remarkable achievement and a fantastic example of the ambition, discipline and curiosity our EM6 students continue to demonstrate.

A Week of Aviation Training and Real‑World Experience

During his time at the Royal Navy base, Harrison trained alongside cadets from across the country, taking part in a packed programme covering:

  • Aviation and aerodynamics
  • Engineering fundamentals
  • Navigation
  • Flight deck operations
  • Aircraft safety and procedures

This hands‑on learning experience gave Harrison a unique insight into the world of military aviation and engineering—skills and knowledge that will stay with him for life.

Exploring the World Behind the Airfield

As part of his ground school activities, Harrison also had the opportunity to visit:

  • The airfield fire station, learning how emergency responses operate
  • The Merlin Training Facility, home to advanced naval aviation simulators
  • Several Royal Navy helicopter squadrons, providing a close look at the aircraft and the people who operate them

These experiences offered an inspiring look at potential future careers in aviation, engineering, and the Armed Forces.

A Fantastic Achievement

We are incredibly proud of Harrison for embracing this challenge and representing EM6 Sixth Form in Hartlepool with such enthusiasm and professionalism. His commitment embodies the values we strive to instil in all our students—confidence, resilience and ambition.
